aBOUT RICK JAKOVICH
Rick Jakovich shapes started in a Cowaramup garage in 1992. They're designed & tested in Margaret River.
THE BEGINNINGS
Rick's old man was a shaper back in the 70s. He was always pretty fussy and used to watch people like Al Bean and Mick Manolas shape his boards.
He waited for his old man to go up north and shaped a board himself. He got his best ever State surfing result at Trigg on that board. It just went on from there....
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Rick initially started shaping surfboards like his dad had done. But he got into SUP boarding back in 2005. He enjoyed doing something new again and it was great for getting away from summer crowds and having fun on the less popular waves.
He wanted to use his surf knowledge and experience to also shape high performance surf SUPs that could excel in the more powerful, bowlier waves of the South West.
His brother Jake - also an exceptional SUP surfer and foiler - started foiling five years ago and Rick's also been shaping foil boards for him.
jet ski / boat / board repairs
Rick Jakovich also does fibreglass repairs for jet ski hulls, boat hulls or any fibreglass board. This includes surfboard, SUP and foil board repairs.
RICK JAKOVICH - SURFER / SUP RIDER
Rick is an incredible surfer and stand up paddle boarder, with a solid reputation for charging and shredding. He was a State level surfer in his younger years and a multiple Australian SUP Surf Champion.
In 2022, he was the State Title Open and Over 40 SUP Surf Champion.
SUP Champion
Rick won three consecutive Australian SUP surf titles in the over 40's division (2014, 2015, 2016).
